Children’s Health Foundation’s Dare to be Brave adventure series is made up of five fun, once-in-a-lifetime events. Participants can take part in all five challenges or pick which challenges they want to complete during the registration process. Each challenge has its own fundraising target which includes registration fees. Each challenge will be held in collaboration with a specialist company to ensure the highest level of safety and experience.

Please note all participants must be 18 years old or over.

Jailbreak Challenge

  • April 21st – 23rd
  • Wicklow Gaol, Wicklow Town, Co. Wicklow
  • Held in partnership with
  • Fundraising Target: €260 (including registration fee of €60)
  • Duration: 2.5 Hours
  • The Jailbreak Challenge will be a team event, however each member will have their own fundraising target
  • Maximum Participants per Team: 5 people

YOUR MISSION: escape from a real jail! How do you do it? Get as many keys as possible by completing the Crystal Maze type challenges, collecting keys and solving the clues.

Your team must be fast and work together to solve all the puzzles, challenges and tasks because if you don’t win you don’t escape! Jailbreak brings you a unique indoor challenge, set in Wicklow Historic Gaol.

After an initial briefing each team is allocated their challenge book. This contains information on the 3 parts of their mission. The first part of the Jailbreak event is a series of photos which the teams must find the location of and then answer the relevant questions.

Part two of the Jailbreak sees the teams solve a number of clues which will lead them to various parts of the jail to find the solution to the riddle. For the final part, the teams must complete a number of fun challenges in the jail, these are all fun and non-strenuous. Bonus keys are also scattered around the gaol.

Assault Course Challenge

  • May 25th – 28th
  • The Avon, Blessington, Co. Wicklow
  • Held in partnership with The Avon
  • Fundraising Target: €375 (including registration fee of €75)
  • Duration: 1 Day
  • The Assault Course Challenge will be a team event, however each member will have their own fundraising target
  • Maximum Participants per Team: 6 people

It’s time to dust off the cobwebs and tackle The Avon’s Earth, Air and Water assault course. Split into teams, you will take part in various challenges throughout the day including climbing, raft building, kayaking, archery, foot orienteering, bike orienteering, air rifling and ziplining. Break out into teams and compete against each other, with the day culminating in a High-Octane Grand Finale!

Abseil Challenge

  • June 20th – 23rd
  • Croke Park, Dublin 1
  • Held in partnership with and Croke Park
  • Fundraising Target: €500 (including registration fee of €100)
  • Duration: 2 – 3 Hours

Feel the fear and do it anyway! Abseil off Croke Park’s iconic Hogan Stand, taking in breathtaking views across the Dublin skyline.

But it’s not all about the abseil - getting to the abseil location is all part of the experience. Participants arrive at Croke Park, check in and then we take care of you: following a briefing and gearing everyone takes part in a simulated training abseil before taking the steps to the roof. Now, the adrenaline really kicks in as we get onto the roof and enjoy some amazing and unique views over the city.

Participants then make their way to the screen and abseil down into the stadium seating below. After having completed the challenge, you return to Level 7 to be met and congratulated by family and friends.

24 Hour Wilderness Survival Challenge

  • July 21st – 23rd
  • Glendalough, Co. Wicklow
  • Held in partnership with
  • Fundraising Target: €500 (including registration fee of €150)
  • Duration: 24 Hours

Can you survive a night in the mountains? You will meet on Day One to get briefed on the challenge ahead: survive for the next 24 hours in the wilderness with no tents! The first part of the challenge is a series of workshops where you will learn essential skills you’ll need to get through the challenge:

  • Shelter Building
  • Navigation
  • Fire Starting
  • Wilderness First Aid/Rescue Skills
  • Leave No Trace / Environmental Issues

Once all workshops are completed, the group start their trek to reach high camp, a remote and wild site in the mountains. When you reach here, your first priority will be to build shelters and start a fire. Ration packs are issued to all participants, and you will prep a tasty camp dinner before sitting around the campfire for stories. Participants bed down for the night in their shelters. Next morning, we break camp after breakfast. We leave nothing behind and return the campsite to the way we found it before descending back down to our start point and our journey home.

Skydive Challenge

  • Edenderry, Co. Offaly
  • Held in partnership with the Irish Parachute Club
  • Fundraising Target: €865 (including registration fee of €240)
  • Duration: 2 – 3 Hours

Enjoy the thrill of free fall from 13,000 feet at a speed of 200 km per hour! This tandem skydive will take in the most stunning of sceneries of the Offaly country side.

The tandem master does all the work during the skydive and training only takes 20-30 minutes. Your assigned tandem master will brief you on all phases of your jump and ensure that you get the most from the experience while taking every precaution to ensure safety.

All you need to do is enjoy the experience and take in the wonderful birds eye views!
